Supply Chain
We uphold quality and integrity throughout our supply chain.
We partner with suppliers who are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards, safeguarding human rights, and protecting the health of people and our planet. This is not only the right thing to do, but it also ensures our supply chain is resilient: Strong, sustainable, and able to meet the dynamic needs of our global customer base.
NI's Supply Chain 2022
Standards and Accountability
We hold our suppliers to the same high ethical and sustainability standards that we follow ourselves and drive accountability through monitoring and continuous improvement programs. In 2022, we partnered with a third party, EcoVadis, to track the social and environmental performance of key suppliers. The assessment scores each supplier’s sustainability management system in the areas of Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. We will use the results to develop improvement programs.
We also updated our 2022 NI Supplier Handbook to include urgent environmental, social and governance topics. We continue to require top suppliers to adhere to the NI Supplier Code of Conduct, which is based on the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct. We monitor direct material suppliers’ performance through quarterly business reviews and a supplier scorecard, which tracks suppliers’ social, environmental, and ethical programs.
Human Rights
As outlined in our new human rights policy, NI is committed to protecting and supporting human rights within all aspects of our operations and our relationships with our communities. This commitment extends to our supply chain. We periodically require all direct materials suppliers to complete antislavery and anti-human trafficking trainings.

Managing Critical Substances
We are committed to producing products free of substances harmful to humans or our environment. We comply with all applicable laws governing the use of such substances, including the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), the EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic products (RoHS), and regional variants of these laws such as the United Kingdom, China, and Chinese Taipei RoHS laws. We continually review emerging legislation and global requirements through various sources, including through our involvement in organizations such as the Test and Measurement Coalition.
Environment, Health, and Safety
Protecting our employees’ health and safety is paramount to us. NI’s two main manufacturing sites (NI Debrecen and NI Penang) have implemented occupational health and safety management systems and we maintain an environmental, health, and safety (EHS) team at both sites. Internal and external EHS experts conduct risk assessments, and we review these assessments and define corrective actions to fix issues. Additionally, we provide annual EHS training to all employees at our manufacturing sites and have an infrastructure for employee reporting and company investigation of incidents.
Responsible Sourcing
As outlined in our Conflict Minerals Policy Statement, we avoid purchasing components that contain so called conflict minerals, being those obtained from such sources and regions where mining funds conflicts and human rights abuses. We assess applicable new NI suppliers' ability to provide reliable data regarding country of origin for gold, tantalum, tin, and tungsten, the currently regulated conflict minerals. We partner with a third party to annually survey >95% (by spend) of our suppliers regarding the sourcing and smelting of these four minerals, and we make the survey results public via our Conflict Minerals Reporting Template. If minerals from high-risk or conflict sources are found in the NI supply chain, we will take appropriate action to resolve the situation. We expect our suppliers to react in the same way.
Through our membership in the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA)’s Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), we are kept abreast of additional substances of concern and upcoming regulations. We continue to monitor our possible use of cobalt and mica which the RMI has listed as such substances of concern. We are also tracking conflict minerals regulation in the EU (European Union) for any impact on our sourcing.
We are also working to ensure that our supply chain is free of human rights abuses such as forced or child labor and that we comply with human rights laws and regulations.
